The Chip and Pin is owned by a small group of Melbourne people who share a passion for real ale. During outings to the local beer festivals they discussed the idea of bringing a wider range of real ales to Melbourne and how to complement the existing popular pub and restaurant trade. When a disused bank became available in the town, the friends jumped at the chance to take on this old building and to give it a new lease of life. The bank has been sympethetically restored providing a new facility for the people of Melbourne.

An excellent addition to the local pub scene. You always get a friendly welcome at the Chip. The beers are always well kept with a good selection from local breweries and further afield. They’ve even had Spingo from the Blue Anchor in Cornwall. A pin of stronger beer is usually on at weekends. The cider choice is also very good. One great thing about Micropubs is that you naturally get drawn into conversation. The Chip is no exception to this. All in all a great little pub.

Oh, I almost forgot. They also have the best pork pie you’ll ever eat.
