Jackie Pink has done a cracking job of converting a former insurance company office into the Gypsy Rove. Its quirky collection of fixtures and fittings are the perfect environment for drinkers to enjoy a relaxing pint in cosy surroundings.

There’s plenty of history in this micropub with the bar, stools and some tables from Redcar’s old Station Hotel and some wrought iron tables rescued from the old Coachman Hotel, near Darlington railway station. The cellar even contains the original old ovens and service switches from when the building was Wilson’s Bakery.

And with stations and travel a common theme, Jackie thought the Gypsy Rover name would be ideal.

The micropub can hold up to 50 people and will offers “light” live music at weekends. As well as a good stock of real ales, which will change weekly, Fruli strawberry beer, Portland Stout, Dortmunder pils, Pinkster gin and even its own Gypsy Rover branded Hereford cider are among the tipples which prove popular.
